Some of the suggestions I pointed out may or may not work for you. But these are the areas where in most people can save up without putting too much effort.
What I did to save up
I quit my gym to cut down on monthly gym membership fees and buying post workout meals. I bought my own pilates ball and mat so I could still do my pilates at home. By doing this, my monthly expenses is now less $140.00. That’s additional pocket-money for island hopping tour or Italy fund.
My spring cleaning is still ongoing and every time I see old stuff in my closet that I know I will not use anymore, I take a shot of it and post it online. Maybe you can do the same and post it on Ebay or Craigslist?
Also, I signed up for paid writing to a technical website that is related to my day job. That means extra cha-ching for souvenir shopping!
Over to you
I hope this inspired you on ways you can save up for that dream trip of yours. Maybe less weekday dining out (and drinking out) with friends? Maybe cutting down on Starbucks coffee? You can also check what monthly paid subscriptions that you can do without. Magazine subscriptions? Cable and internet? Maybe less driving and walking more? Burns a lot of calories too!
The experience that you will gain from travelling is priceless. Not to mention the whole new you after getting back from a trip. Surely that is worth more than anything in the world. Be creative and resourceful. Remember, if there’s a will, there’s a way and it’s all up to you.
